Story #1756

So while in BCT I developed a cyst under my right ear. Got it removed and got some amazing pain meds and antibiotics that apparently clashed in my system and created a heavy drowsiness system. So between falling asleep sitting up at chow and standing in formation that first night I didn’t think it could get worse. ..I was wrong! That night I remember going to sleep like any other night but when DS came up to smoke my platoon for something earlier that day I was found sleeping in my sleeping bag on the floor of our barracks. (I was in the top bunk originally and the closest bunk to the door the DS walked in) When DS asked another Pvt why I was asleep on the floor Pvt responded with “he’s on meds DS” DS began to ask me questions (that I answered pretty much being unconscious, slightly high, and faced buried in a pillow). Here’s the conversation. DS asked “Pvt can you get back in your bunk” I replied “too high” DS – it’s too high or your too high? Me – ::few second pause:: both. DS- can you make it to the empty bunk on your left? Me- ::turns head other direction and trying to open my eyes:: maybe. DS-give it a shot. So I then proceeded to crawl inching to the bunk and finally slithering into the bunk. Right before passing out. I mumbled goodnight DS, he replies “goodnight Pvt” then I mumbled goodnight guys talking to my platoon. DS then yells to the rest of my platoon “SAY GOODNIGHT TO PRIVATE” they did and then proceeded to get smoked for about 2 hours in the dark and whispering so I didn’t get woken up. Thanks DS!
