Story #1936

We had a crusty old drill sergeant who had been in for somewhere around thirty years (his words, not my guess). He had been in the 82nd for nearly his whole career and then for whatever reason, decided to become a drill sergeant. He was also a little off, and even to this day is only one of a few soldiers that I’ve seen with a ranger tab and Sapper tab combined…

While we were in the hut during one of weapons systems, we heard creaking above us. This DS jumped down from the rafters and screamed, “THATS RIGHT MOTHER FUCKERS! HAJJ CAN COME FROM ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME! STAY ALERT! STAY ALIVE!” He then ran out of the hut laughing.
