Story #2202
Working as a drill in 1978(Yesssssss! Another DS telling the story, and old school too. Can’t wait to read about the fuckery!) , trainees are told that they will be gassed on a tactical march at some point prior to graduating. They are also instructed that all they need to do to pass is “don’t run.” I was on morning rotation and noticed the drills working the move did not take their masks since the training schedule did not call for gas on this trip. My evil twin whispered in my ear it was time for some fun. I circled out on the route ahead of the Company and hid behind some trees. As the Company got halfway past my position I popped three smoke canisters. Four of the platoon DS, thinking they had been gassed, cleared a 5 foot high firebreak and took off running. The troops got a good laugh for several days and I got to rag the hell out the “rabbit” DSs.
