Story #2221
It was Memorial Day and we were all in the 1st Plt bay cleaning for IN4. I had been making an ass of myself as “PSG” for a while now and today was no different trying to get people motivated to clean the bay and with no success so I was moving racks by myself when about halfway through PVT G jumped up and grabbed a hold of a rack to help me slide it back. Turns out he grabbed slightly to high so when we pushed it the top half lifted. We let go but as the top came crashing back down I realized that I may have gotten a piece of me caught in between the racks.
Pacing the back and forth a couple times hand stuck in my side feeling like I may have broken a finger in sit down in the DS chair at the front of the bay. Someone says they want to see my hand so I take it out of my side and open my hand. It become immediately apparent that it was more than just broke… The end of my pinky was missing… Staring at my finger someone had run to get DS R who comes,in with an immediate what is this bullshit before looking at my hand and telling myself and PVT R, who had found the rest of my finger in the end of the rock, to get in the fucking van.
A short trip to the base hospital and a shot of morphine later I’m in an ambulance heading off post to the civilian hospital where indeed I get another morphine shot and my finger sewn closed. Now because of the ambulance ride I am without a battle buddy higher than a kite and about to leave when I ask for my finger back. The nurse brings me a Ziploc baggie with ice and my finger wrapped up in some kind of cloth and 2 Percocet for the ride home. They release me and put me in a taxi and send me on my way. I get back to the barracks and walking through some of my battle buddies see me and take me to DS R who is in his office for 3rd Plt at the top of the stairs. They knock on the door and he looks at me and tells me to sit down. He then proceeds to ask me what in the Ziploc bag, which I was so I high I had forgot I had, so I inform him “it’s the end of my finger DS” and half excited half disgusted he asks to see. I take the cloth out, unroll it and show him and he just looks at me as if he was wondering why I brought it back with me. He tells me go lay down and sleep it off and puts it in the 1SGT’s freezer.
I hear not only did it get shown to most of the DS’s in the Battalion but I heard you can’t move the racks at Ft Jackson anymore either.
